S T Y L E // white out

Jeans, Topshop. Top, Primark. Coat, Boohoo. Trainers, Adidas Superstar II.

I haven't blogged in over 4 months, that is the definition of a useless fashion blogger isn't it really. But I have decided to try my best to keep the posts a bit more frequent, even if they are just a picture off of insta. That's better than nothing, right?

This camel coat has been my saviour as the temperature has dropped, it's so versatile! Dressed down with jeans and sneakers, or up with a bodycon midi and some high nude heels. Today I paired it with my new superstars. Words cannot explain how comfortable they are!

S T Y L E // public desire

Jeans, Topshop. Vest top, New Look. Shirt, F&F. Sunglasses, Asos. Hat, Topshop. Shoes, Public Desire.

I finally have a disposable income this month, and what better to do with it than buy a new pair of shoes! Since I've recently lived in my black cleated sole boots, I wanted a similar pair which catered for the summer weather. The desired features for my idea of a perfect pair of shoes went as follows: white, cleated sole, not boot style, platformed, open toed and a heel. Pretty easy to find you'd expect after what's currently in the high street stores. But I really struggled on the heel factor. I wanted a heel, however one low enough to wear daily without any discomfort. Therefore I had been keeping up with La Moda and Public Desire's stock for a few months, waiting for the 'perfect pair.' Finally the waiting paid off! These are so comfortable with a high enough platform/heel so it's not that obvious that I'm only 5'2"! I suggest everyone takes a look both of their online stores. If your fussy like me and can't find the your ideal pair of shoes on there just yet... just be patient because I'm sure they'll stock them soon!

F E A T U R E // glamour magazine online

Just a quick post: Last year I was doing work experience for Cosmo mag just off of Carnaby Street, whilst wandering around on my lunch break I was stopped by someone from Glamour mag who asked to take a couple of photos of me. I hadn't seen the photos until recently when I came across them on their online website!

S T Y L E // it's been almost a month...

Skirt, H&M. Top, originally Primark but DIY-ed. Nike Air Max Force. Sunglasses, given to me by a new Japanese clothing brand after being photographed wearing them in the middle of Carnaby Street (they never told me their brand name or emailed me). Rings, mothers and a present.

It's been almost a month since I last posted, how useless am I?! But I've either been revising or working which has taken up pretty much 100% of my time lately. Today is the first day I've got properly dressed, make-up and all, for a long while! My social life is non-existent and I'm currently sharing my bed with my laptop, folders, notepads, pens and highlighters.

This post is nothing special, I just thought I should give a little update as to why I've been away for so long, whilst taking advantage of the beautiful weather and going all-out-summer-style.

Expect regular posts once my last exam is over on the 16th June! Eeeeeeek!!!

I thought I'd try something new and experiment with including a little GIF.

S T Y L E // leaf/palm print hype

So this week I jumped on the leaf/palm print hype in the form of a cutaway crop top from Topshop (buy it here). After a shopping trip to Bluewater and seeing the palm print crop top in River Island that I've seen all over Instagram and people requesting to buy it off of others on Depop, I could see the reasoning behind the hype. It was a lovely print and very cheap! Inevitably it has pretty much sold out online and in stores. Therefore I began my quest to find another, as a result I found this Topshop one and I loved it instantly. The print is very different to the River Island one, but I think it also looks a lot better quality allowing it to be dressed up easily with a block coloured midi skirt, whilst also simply matching it with a pair of black or white jeans and slip-ons for a daytime look.

P R O M O T I O N // jean paul gaultier exhibition

Shirt, New Look. Jean, Topshop (DIY ripped). Lace bralet, American Apparel.  Jacket, H&M. Hat, Topshop. Clutch, American Apparel. Nike Air Force 1.

I went to the Barbican to see 'The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier; From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk' on Saturday. I apologise that it's taken me so many days to actually post about it, I have been working like crazy to make Fashion coursework deadlines, revise for upcoming exams and an interview for an Internship!!! I don't want to speak too soon about the internship so I'll keep that quiet for now.

The exhibition was absolutely amazing! As soon as I walked into it, I felt overwhelmed with excitement to witness the work of such a maverick designer. I seriously suggest that anyone and everyone goes to see it. Every collection was on show, and I even learnt that he often worked with my favourite photographer duo Inez & Vinoodh.

There was entire section dedicated the iconic cone bra worn by Madonna, plus inspiring quotes from herself, Boy George, Kylie Minogue and many others on why they were so appreciative to work with Gaultier.

I don't want to spoil too much for whoever is planning on going to see the exhibition.. It is on until 25th August of this year.

I can't help myself but reveal a sneak peak of a few of my favourite photos which I took.

S T Y L E // forever being overdressed for college

Hat, Topshop. Top, F&F at Tesco. Leggings, Topshop. Boots, eBay. Jacket, Nelly.

Like I said in the post before, I can't wait to get so much use out of this hat.. and here it is! I've been wearing it quite a lot recently, trying to work out what outfits it will go with, but if I'm honest it goes with nearly everything!

These were a few pictures I took quickly before going to college, which I'm forever being overdressed for. At the time it was so sunny, but a few hours later, down came the rain.. so it's lucky I threw on a big jacket.

S T Y L E // fedora hat

Jeans, Diesel. Boots, eBay. Clutch, American Apparel. Top, Missguided. Hat, Topshop.

It was my boyfriends birthday on Monday so I took him to London Zoo which was so much fun (I think I enjoyed it a lot more than he did!). Then we went for a meal with his family which was lovely at Mr Chow in Knightsbridge, the food was delicious and I highly recommend it if you're a lover of Chinese food. I'm a vegetarian and they couldn't have catered to my needs any better!

So yesterday I went to Bluewater with my boyfriend so he could spend some birthday money, then we went for dinner at Ed's Diner and went to see The Quiet Ones which was so much better than I was expecting with a really good storyline!

Whilst at Bluewater I treated myself to this hat. I can't wait to get so much use out if over the coming months. It's so versatile - it can be dressed up or down, perfect for any occasion. In the above photos I have worn it with an otherwise boring/dressed down outfit, however I think the hat adds a nice touch.

S T Y L E // french plait

Jeans, Diesel. Boots, eBay. Bag, H&M. Top, unknown. Jacket, H&M. Lipstick, Maybelline.

Here are a few rushed photos I asked my mum to take just before we went out for lunch and a coffee. This is the first french plait I've done on myself for years! I'm ashamed to say it's far from perfect, but it takes me back to my primary school days... There was no shortage of plaited hair in 2013 and those of you who are plait-lovers out there will be pleased to know that it's definitely not going anywhere for Summer 2014!

If you prefer the messy plaits as seen on Rachel Zoe's models in her Spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection, or the sleek, tight french plait seen at Diesel Black Gold New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 show.

Rachel Zoe

Diesel Black Gold

A single plait, double, triple, quadruple or quintuple plaits.

Standard plait, french plait, fishtail plait, waterfall plait, milkmaid plait.

Any number and style of plaits goes this Spring and Summer! So my advice for you is to get practising (youtube tutorials are my personal favourite method of learning).

So, which plait will you be trying out on the run up to Summer?

S T Y L E // textures

Jumper, Primark. String vest, eBay. Leather trousers, H&M. Nike Air Force 1. Beanie, Sknddy.

Just my luck that as soon as I write a post about my SS14 inspiration, the weather acts more like AW13! So this was my outfit for yesterday, comfy, casual and easy for running some quick errands.

Seeing as I have such a monochrome style, I don't want it to become dull and tedious.. Therefore yesterday I experimented with different textures. Leather trousers, a netted vest and a soft fluffy jumper whichI think worked quite well, especially with the different lengths of the top and jumper.

I received my Air Forces as a present for my 18th in October. Cause they're completely white they get dirty so easily! I eventually gave up with trying to keep them clean, I simply kept them for going out to clubs down in Brighton where, as you can imagine, they got absolutely filthy. However I took a couple of hours out of my morning a couple of days ago to try and clean them after watching a few youtube videos of how people managed to clean theirs up to a pretty high standard. And I'm proud to say I think they turned out well considering the state they were in before (sorry I forgot to do a before and after).

How I did it:
So firstly, take the laces out and soak them in boiling water and some clothing conditioner that usually goes in the washing machine.
For the trainers,  boil a separate bowl of water and mix it with washing up liquid. Take an old toothbrush (I had bought two super cheap toothbrushes from Morrisons) and just scrub as much of the dirt off as you can. Do this for both trainers. Dry off with a towel. Rinse the toothbrush used before or get a new one. Once clean, use a white toothpaste (no greeny-blue tinted sparkly bizarre ones you can get, just a totally white paste), and repeat the process of scrubbing your trainers again. Try and focus more on the stitching as this is where the dirt gets stuck to and stains the fabric, therefore makes it noticeable that in fact they are old sneaks. Once you think you've cleaned them up as much as possible, go over them with a damp cloth or wipe.
Make sure you leave the laces to dry before you put them in your trainers, and perhaps leave your trainers on a radiator over night or something incase they are a little damp. Et voila!

I N S P I R A T I O N // SS14

(warning: very picture heavy post - sorry mobile users!)

Due to having quite the monochrome wardrobe at the moment, trying to dress appropriately for the warmer weather when my ideal outfit consists almost entirely of black can be quite difficult. Here are more than a few images I have come across to keep you and my up and coming outfit posts inspired.

S T Y L E // newest purchase

So yesterday I had a lovely day out with my mum. She booked herself in at Seven Sins in Horley for a tattoo and was desperate for me to come with her for some support. We went for lunch, a little look round a few shops and then went into the tattoo shop. The weather was sunny but pretty chilly so I decided to wear my newest purchase - this amazing white faux leather scuba jacket!! And some sunnies!

Jacket, Nelly.com. Jeans, Topshop (DIY ripped). Rings, present & Topshop. Top, F&F at Tesco. Boots, Ebay. Bag, H&M.

Also, whilst my mum got her tattoo done, I spontaneously decided to get my nose pierced!
