C O S M O // my work experience week

'It's not what you know, it's who you know'
This phrase couldn't be more true! I managed to get myself a week of work experience at the elite magazine, Cosmopolitan, in the October half term. It was quite possibly the best week of my life! I was working alongside the features team. I spent my days making tea and coffee, as most workies will know that all too well. I also did some research for articles, a few transcriptions, and several other things for particular articles. And I believe I am going to be lucky enough to have my name mentioned alongside the very talented feature writers on a few of the articles I helped out with. It was an inspiring atmosphere to see how the magazine's issues are piece together.
The location of the work experience added to the amazing week I had. It was located just off of a street I know all too well, Carnaby Street. I spent my lunch breaks browsing the shops and sipping on my Starbucks vanilla latte.
On one of my lunch breaks I was stopped by an ASOS Fashion Finder, and then a photographer from Glamour stopped me (the images will hopefully be in a Glamour issue soon!). The following day, I was again stopped by the ASOS Fashion Finder. I will post the photos and links below, along with some very rushed amateur shots of a couple of my outfits before I ran for my early morning train.

(To finish off my week on an extreme high, I have been asked to return to Cosmo in January for a couple of days, eeeeek!!!)

S T Y L E // Birthday Kicks

So it was my 18th on October 16th, I had such a brilliant few days celebrating my birthday. Everyone was so lovely and generous, and I'm so grateful to all of those who made it so good!
Now, these babies were one of my favourite presents, I love them so much! Expect to see them popping up in many outfit posts in the near future..

S T Y L E // White Jeans

I took a risk and bought myself some white jeans on the cheap from Topshop. Although I made the mistake of reading the poor reviews after ordering them.. the reviews went on and on about how they're very see through and the sizes come up small, and to be on the safe side I should probably order a couple of sizes or try on in store. Inevitably I was worried. But when they arrived yesterday and I tried them on, I couldn't be more happier with them! They fit perfectly and no more see through than I was anticipating as that's usually the case with white jeans. I also treated myself to a fluffy black jumper to welcome the chilly weather, and some cute black pumps on the weekend.

P R O M O T I O N // Carnaby Style Night (in association with GQ magazine)

So last Thursday evening I went to Carnaby Style Night. It was a great night filled with shopping with a special 20% discount in most shops, drinks, food, dancing and DJs!
I went out looking for a dress for a friends 18th but ended up coming home with a Stussy T for myself!
I managed to catch some of Shake Tiger Shake's brilliant performance, who were on a stage set out almost opposite Lazy Oaf.
All in all it was a wonderful atmosphere and a lovely evening! Here is a quick picture of my outfit which I took before making a run for my train..

I thought I may as well make use out of my string vest that I had originally bought for a girls holiday to Malia, and if you look very closely can you spot my first tattoo of many which I got done out there?

P.s. apologies about the flip flops making a sneaky appearance!

S T Y L E // Favourite August purchase - My Zara necklace

I have been researching, considering Universities and booking up open days a majority of which are local (London or there abouts), yet one is Nottingham Trent. The distance from home to there is beyond scary but I believe that I should keep open minded and optimistic about the whole situation, and more importantly be brave. I'm used to moving to places and schools where I know next to no one, but the idea of University so far away frightens me.

Also I want to take this blogging thing more seriously eventually, with more regular posts. But without having a space to take decent photographs, a tripod for my SLR or a decent photographer (my mum doesn't count, but I may have to train her up in taking a reasonable photo), you will have to put up with awful quality iPhone selfies for now. I apologise, but as long as I'm getting my outfits out there it's fine, the photography side of it will have to wait!

Checkered waists

So, we actually had some decent weather a little while back! Therefore, out came the fake tanned pins, shorts and bare midriffs.. This outfit's got a laid back, 'L.A.' vibe to it. I'm not entirely sure if that looks fits in, in Croydon, but hey ho I felt comfortable and was in keeping with this oversized checkered-shirt-round-waist trend that everyone seems to be following. It's very Pharrell/Kanye-esque!

Levi's, ebay. Shirt, Topshop. Cropped top, DIY. Sunglasses, Urban Outfitters. Nikes, JD. Socks, Topshop.

All black everything (minus the nikes)

Back when the weather was ugly and grey (the other day), I wore this very black outfit. It's rare that I'll wear an outfit that doesn't include black, but this day I fancied taking it to the next level whilst showcasing my relatively new red Nike Air Max 90 Vac Tech's. Here's a quick picture I managed to take of my outfit before heading off to college.

Faux fur gilet, Tesco. Wet look leggings, Topshop. Vest top, American Apparel. Black cardigan, H&M. White frilly socks, Topshop. Beanie hat, Sknddy. Necklace, Topshop.

DimePiece is a 2007 brand founded and designed by Ashley Jones and Laura Fama. They use their unique modern pop-art theme to express female empowerment, which I'm all for! It's becoming a widely recognised brand with fans including Cara Delevingne, Yasmin, Estelle and many other women willing to wear clothing which express a few cheeky and feminist phrases.

Have a look at a few of my favourite items I selected from their online store
